I2M Staff and Associates have attended seminars (including 40-Hr OSHA Training, and 8-Hr Updates), presented professional papers, served as session or meeting chairman in technical conferences or served on technical committees, as members and as officers, and have served in editorial duties for a number of professional societies, all for the purpose of experiencing continuing education over the years, and to meet the requirements of the Texas geoscience licensing regulations and those of other states and those in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Europe. It should be noted that additional CED credits (beyond those required by regulation) are submitted by I2M personnel and recorded below. However, not all are listed for each I2M Associate. They are responsible for maintaining their own CED records.

*****, ****, ***, **, *, #, ##, During the Year 2023, MDC served as the Senior Editor in association with selected I2M Associates of the I2M Web Portal, which presents the results of monitoring, reviews, and selections from a range of publications on mineral exploration and mining projects, energy resources, and environmental issues involved in groundwater supplies and climate change that are now available on the Internet. These functions are conducted as part of the pro bono activities by MDC for the benefit of professional geologists and the general public.

The I2M Web Portal is interactive and searchable. As of January 1, 2024, it contained reviews and summaries of approximately 13,300 records of books, papers, and technical news items. Of particular note is the new book by Mr. Campbell published in early 2023 titled: “Anecdotes of a Lifetime: Memoirs of a Professional Geologist”
He spent approximately 8 months in the preparations and editing of his professional memoirs.

Mr. Campbell attended numerous webinars, seminars, workshops online, provided by the AIPG-TX and AIPG National, and read on matters of ethics. He continues to serve as Vice President – Eastern Texas for the Texas Section of the American Institute of Professional Geologists – AIPG (more), overseeing the development of training programs and field trips.

****** I2M’s Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., Senior Principal and Chief Geologist/ Hydrogeologist, has been recently appointed to the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Earth Science and Geology. Andrew Thomas, Editorial Coordinator of Madridge Publishers also asked for an editorial of Mr. Campbell’s expectations for this journal. * MDC – December, 2, 2018. I2M’s Chief Geologist, Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., was asked to assemble a historical account of the Energy Minerals Division (EMD), from its beginning before 1977 to 2018. With input from older and younger members of EMD, he cobbled together an article, which has been published in AAPG’s The Explorer journal:

*, MDC April 12, 2018, Mr. Campbell and co-author prepared and presented a section of the Energy Minerals Division’s 2017 review article, which was recently released in the Journal of Natural Resources Research (Springer) on the activities in the unconventional and alternative energy fields (EMD’s Chief Editor: Frances J. Hein). I2M’s Chief Geologist, Michael D. Campbell is the Chair of the Committee on Uranium (Nuclear and REE) Minerals and served as the senior author of the section on uranium and associated thorium and rare earth minerals. Henry M. Wise Vice-Chair (Industry), and James R. Conca (Advisory Group) of UCOM served as co-authors in the section. (Article, see PDF pages: 35-50). The paper also includes reviews of worldwide coal, geothermal, coal-bed methane (CBM), tight gas & liquids, bitumen & heavy oil, and shale gas and liquids, plus a review of the economics focused on coal and natural gas and oil production.
