Energy Minerals Division (AAPG) 2015 Annual Report Presented By I2M’s Chief Geologist, Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H.

As Chair of the Committee on Uranium (Nuclear and Rare Earth Minerals) of the Energy Minerals Division (AAPG), and I2M’s Chief Geologist/Principal Hydrogeologist, Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H., presented the Committee’s 2015 Annual Report at the Division’s annual meeting on May 30 during the AAPG Annual Conference & Exhibition in Denver, Colorado (more).

Mr. Campbell also served as a judge of the AAPG Astrogeology Session, Theme 9: New Views of the Solar System, chaired by William W. Ambrose and Bruce Cutright, both of the University of Texas Bureau of Economic Geology in Austin, Texas (more).

He also represented the Gulf Coast Section and Southeast Asia during the meeting of the AAPG’s Visiting Geoscientist Program Committee, which provides scheduled lecturers on energy-related topics to geology students at universities around the U.S. and throughout the world (more).

Environmental Geophysics Associates (EGA) awarded TxDOT project

Mustafa Saribudak, Ph.D., P.G., Chief Geophysicist of Environmental Geophysics Associates (EGA) and an I2M Senior Geophysical Associate, announced that EGA has partnered with a company that has been awarded a 2-year project by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

EGA will conduct the geophysical services over the Edwards Aquifer in central Texas to locate caves, voids, and sinkholes, and to characterize near-surface geology.

Dr. Saribudak also recently completed geophysical surveys on a karstic terrain near the Natural Bridge Caverns to locate a water well. The location, suggested by the geophysical surveys, was drilled and yielded a flowing artesian well.

I2M’s Resource Web Portal is approaching a major milestone of 3,000 citations in database content and in Internet popularity, Jeffrey D. King, P.G., President and CEO of I2M Associates, LLC, announced today in Seattle (more). He said that we are pleased regarding the reception the interactive I2M Web Portal is receiving and invites all to participate in the venture. The evolving objective of this venture is to provide relevant information on a range of topics we are involved in either with Client projects or via pro bono activities in professional societies on energy-source selection, mining, and associated environmental issues in the U.S. and around the World.

This venture is an expansion of our group’s previous efforts to define and offset the widespread impact of the various forms of media that are disseminating misrepresentations, misleading claims, and falsehoods published in local and national newsprint, on-air, and via the Internet, especially in the U.S. (more).

Cambodia Exploration Visit

I2M personnel were on the go again in SE Asia during December and January. Jeffrey D. King, P.G., I2M’s President and CEO, and Stephen W. Duggan, I2M’s Construction Manager, returned from a second visit to Cambodia where they are evaluating properties for possible acquisition and becoming familiar with the country’s mining and environmental laws and regulations.

The Guide was produced by I2M’s Chief Geologist and Principal Hydrogeologist, Michael D. Campbell, P.G., P.H.; by I2M’s Project Manager & Mining / Environmental Geological Associate, M. David Campbell, P.G.; and by Henry M. Wise, P.G., Senior Geologist and Remedial Services Senior Specialist for SWS Environmental Services, in La Porte, Texas. Campbell Elected Fellow by the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG)

Jeffrey D. King, I2M’s President and CEO announced this morning at the Seattle office that I2M’s Chief Geologist, Michael D. Campbell, has been elected a Fellow by the Australian Institute of Geoscientists. Mr. Campbell thanked the AIG for their recognition and noted that he spent his first four professional years in the Australian outback on exploration projects during the latter 1960s under the supervision and encouragement of Brian Fitzpatrick and Rossi Grasso (well-known senior geological consultants based in Adelaide) at the time employed as Consultants to the Conoco Mining Group under Robert N. Arrington, Vice President, based in Sydney. They would have been pleased. Mr. Campbell also thanked the senior geologists in Townsville and Adelaide who served as his sponsors for the AIG election.
